about

Very late in the 1990's, a 17 year old lad by the name of Rhys Arvidson was introduced to the BF circus by mutual friend Dave Edney. He shyly presented with some FastTracker work which had been squeezed out of a sweating and on-its-last-legs 386 running an 8-bit SoundBlaster Pro. The tracks needed a little work but came correct with the raw aesthetics that suited the label, taking cues and influence from both the early Rotterdam Records and the BF output of Memetic and Xylocaine. The tracks that would later become FIST25 were gradually completed during 1998 and 1999. Due to a combination of inactivity and demolition derbies at the label during the year 2000, the tracks would lay idle until early 2001 when Rhys turned up at the King St office late one morning with a Y2K Pentium tower and a bunch of 3.5" floppies containing the xm files of his tunes. The tracks for FIST25 were captured dry to DAT (via MadTracker) there and then with no effects or mastering. A week or two later Rhys submitted a cut'n paste collage work which would be used as the sleeve and the 12" finally hit the distros around May 2001, selling steadily through it's initial pressing and again through a smaller repress a couple of months later.

All tracks written and produced on FastTracker by Rhys Arvidson during the insufferable Australian summer of 1998/99. The tracks were gradually fussed together in a dingy Raymond Terrace bedroom (amidst the constant shouting of parents to "stop that racket!" and similar). Released on 12" May 2001
